"7800º Fahrenheit" was the second studio album by the American hard rock/glam metal band, released during March 1985. The album's title is a reference to the supposed melting point of rock. This album also saw the introduction of the classic 1980's Bon Jovi logo that would be used on the following two albums.
The album was recorded in six weeks between January and March 1985 at the Warehouse Studios in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The album marked the final collaboration between Bon Jovi and producer Lance Quinn. It is also the only Bon Jovi album to feature songwriting contributions from four of the band members, with "Sweet Dreams" being the only Bon Jovi song to-date for which drummer Tico Torres receives a songwriting credit.
"7800º Fahrenheit" reached number 37 on the U.S. billboard 200 albums chart and was the band's first record to be certified gold in the U.S. It remained charted for 85 weeks and was eventually certified platinum in February 1987. The singles "In and Out of Love" and "Only Lonely" both charted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Despite being a fan favourite, the band was unsatisfied with the sound of the album and essentially disowned it once they had solidified their status as major rock stars with the subsequent albums "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey". a few years later. It is the least represented album in their setlists over the course of the career and excluding extremely rare performances of the song "Tokyo Road" in Japan once every few years and "Only Lonely" a few times during the Circle Tour in 2010, nothing from this album has been performed live since the 1980's.
